Author: Erin Watt
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Young Adult
Expected Publication: May 30th 2017
Publisher: Harlequin Teen

From #1 New York Times bestselling author duo Erin Watt comes the addictive contemporary tale of a teen rock star in need of an image makeover and the teen girl hired to be his fake girlfriend.

Meet Oakley Ford-teen celebrity, renowned pop star, child of famous movie stars, hottie with millions of fangirls… and restless troublemaker. On the surface he has it all, but with his home life disintegrating, his music well suddenly running dry, and the tabloids having a field day over his outrageous exploits, Oakley's team decides it's time for an intervention. The result: an image overhaul, complete with a fake girlfriend meant to show the world he's settled down.

Enter seventeen-year-old Vaughn Bennett-devoted sister, part-time waitress, the definition of "normal." Under ordinary circumstances she'd never have taken this gig, but with her family strapped for cash, she doesn't have much of a choice. And for the money Oakley's team is paying her, she figures she can put up with outlandish Hollywood parties and a team of publicists watching her every move. So what if she thinks Oakley's a shallow, self-centered jerk? It's not like they're going to fall for each other in real life…right?

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of When It's Real provided by

Let's be real.

I would never deny an Erin Watt novel no matter if it's in the YA, NA or heck, even the Non-fiction genre. The writing sings to me and that's why Erin Watt has been my auto-buy author. Without questions asked.

After the much hyped-about Royals series that was filled with angst, drama, and cliffhangers, When It's Real paled in comparison in the department. In fact, it is as cliched as it could be.

It was a fast and cute standalone with the usual a**hol-ish male rockstar and the normal girl next door. You could probably see the ending from a million miles away.

BUT. OH.

I loved it. With my heart and soul. I love Oakley Ford (yes that's his name) and Vaughn Bennett. I love how a vain pop star fell in love with a stubborn and insecure normal human muggle who doesn't know what she wants to do in life. I loved to see the transformation in both of their characters. I loved that the story truly portrayed the reality of a celebrity's world, that it isn't as beautiful as we may see on TV. I loved that despite all the fame and fortune, there's still someone real that exists in Oak, and for Vaughn to stay true to herself, to be the anchor that he needs.

It was frustrating at first - as accustomed to every Erin Watt's novel - to read about how an a** Oak could be and how they both hated each other at first sight, but that transformation, their chemistry? OFF THE CHARTS.

It's every fangirl dream come true, but dang it! Oakley and Vaughn Ford-Ever!

P.S. My Oak - because I'm recently addicted to Lauv and he's the first person I thought of *biased*
